Pat - It is highly likely that this is your ancestor. Although the Alabama Department of Archives and History does not have his full service record, the summary that they have on-line does indicate that James K. Gordon of Company E, 2nd Battalion Alabama Light Artillery was from Lowndes County. This same site shows that a Francis Gordon was also in Company E, although it does not state his county of residence. See link:
