Wow. I was not expecting all this. For your information, James C. Gordon must have reenlisted because from old family papers he was killed in the Battle of Atlanta on Sept 2, 1864. After his death and after the Civil War, his wife Susan Ann Lochridge took her children and returned to the home of her parents in Spring Hill, Tennessee for fear of the freed slaves and that she would not have any protection in Lowndes County, Alabama. It is also written that afterwards his father, David Gordon, kind of lost his mind because James Caperton Gordon had been his only living son. His first son had died at age two.
