My GGrandfather was in Co. B, Col. William C. Oates, 15 Alabama Infantry, He was Sgt. J.D. Calloway. In Colonel Oates' book of 1905, The War Between The Union And The Confederacy, page 592, this is what he says about T.J. Beard. "T.J. Beard was 19 years old when he enlisted. He was sick the greater part of the time while in service, but was in six engagements with the enemy, and was captured at Wauhatchie, Lookout Valley, Tennesse, October 28, 1863, and never exchanged. He survived the war, and moved to Texas."
I don't if this is all fact, but this is what Colonel Oates writes in his 1905 book.
