After the Battle of Gettysburg, William Green Curry became the Chaplain of the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment as per the following.

William Green Curry was born on September 11, 1843, at Pineville, Monroe County, Alabama. He was enlisted in Company D on April 12, 1861, at Pineville, Alabama. He was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. He served as a Private until the Battle of Gettysburg, after which he was appointed Chaplain of the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment, and served as such until the end of the war.
