Warsaw/Panole, Alabama are located close to the Misssissippi border. An A. G. Weston was listed in Company B, 1st Regiment Mississippi Cavalry, Company B was raised in DeSoto county. This could be a misprint, and could have been Company H which was raised in nearby Lowndes county, Miss.

His one card record states that his horse was hit with a shell & musket ball - so injured that he was compelled to abandon him, April 6/7, 1862 in the engagement at Shiloh, Tenn.

There are no Company H [Lowndes Rangers] muster rolls in the records prior to that for the bi-monthly period of September & October, 1862 which notes that the company at the battle of Shiloh on the 6th & 7th of April, three men were wounded, one horse killed.

The next three bi-monthly muster rolls for the period up to January, 1863 are missing.

As there are no other records for this A. G. Weston, we can assume he enlisted sometime prior to April, 1862 and would have been dropped from the rolls sometime during the period through August 1862. This could have been due to death, desertion, capture, transfer, discharge, etc. We just do not know and it appears there are no other surviving records of his service.

I could not locate a pension application for either he or his widow.
