Unable to locate this man on any US census record, although the son appears on the census of Polk Co TX (1900), Angelina Co TX (1910) and Hardin Co TX (1920). No Joseph S Parrish in an Alabama unit; also searched Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas Confederate units without result.

As mentioned a few weeks ago, tombstone inscriptions can be in error. THis may be another example.
