Bryan,

As far as residences, all I know about the Russells is my GG Grandfather, Dr.William Angus Russell lived in Lee County, MS after the war and then settled in Tilton, MS, in Lawrence County, MS, where he practiced medicine and lived until he died. No one seems to know where he lived prior to the war, and I am just now beginning my search after completing my Lawrence research. Alexander Russell is a quite a mystery. In 1862 he would have been about 56 years old, so his quitting and then rejoining the army might be explained by that. He had been a captain with Houston's volunteers in the Texas-Mexican war. The family story is that the Russells came originally from South Carolina, but if he was a migrant to Texas in the 1840's, Arkansas is not a stretch. Lee County, MS, is near the south Arkansas border. Thanks for all your help.

Bob
