Linda, in addition to Jay’s information, Ancestry.com gives Judith Williams as J.D.’s first wife, and Sarah F. Buck as his second wife. J.D. and Sarah were married 25 Nov 1884 in Clark Co. AR. The following blurb is included in this entry:

“Enlisted on June 20 1862 in the Confederate Army at Rockport, AR.& was Captured on July 4, 1863 & taken to Memphis, TN & then to a military prison in Afton, IL. He was paroled in VA. It is said he walked from VA to AR., was in bad health the rest of his life, although he farmed some.”

Jeptha’s birth date matches that given by Jay, 20 Mar 1833 in AL. Ancestry.com gives J.D.’s date of passing as 4 Sep 1909 in Hot Spring Co. AR.
