Bennett

Hello all!

Thanks for any help you can give me in this area. My name is Whit, currently serving in US Navy in Spain. My only research (at present) is through the internet.

My great great grandfather was Thomas J. Bennett. From your site I gleaned this information. This is all we know.
(COMPANY G
33RD ARKANSAS INFANTRY REGIMENT
BENNETT, THOMAS Pvt - Age 34. Enl 19 Jun 1862 in Columbia Co, AR. Died 15 Nov 1862 near Ft Smith, AR. Claim filed 9 Apr 1863 by Sarah C. Bennett, widow. )

I have done some reading about 15 Nov 1862 and what they were doing up around Ft Smith. But in all areas, he seems to have fallen through the cracks. Not any real skirmishes or battles on that date, etc. It says "died". could that be from wounds earlier, or some physiological problem like a ruptured appendix? I do not know. There is no info on burial.

Does anyone have anything that might be of use to help me go in a different direction? Thanks for your help!

Whit Sloane
