Re: a question re: J. Pruitt, and kin

Believe it or not, that was where my Mary Greene ( a middle name) Pruitt/Prewitt Pearce came from-Georgia. At least that is what it says on the census. (I have seen the family name spelled Prewitt in some places.) Mary was old enough to marry in 1868 after the war, so she must have been born around 1848. Her husband, Sgt. J. D. Pearce had fought with the 8th Arkansas CSA.
We know Mary supposedly carried French Blood which was an old time term for Hugenots.
That was what they always said about my great grandmother, Appie Pearce Bayne, who supposedly inherited it from her mother Mary who was called Polly.
My gg grandmother's ( Mary Pruitt Pearce) older sister Sally married a Francis/Frank Temple in Louisiana. Frank Temple was with a Louisiana
CSA Cav. group.
We are at a total dead end after that.
By chance is there a Carl Pruitt in the bunch?
My great grandmother Bayne, who was Mary' daughter, named her oldest child Carl Pruitt Bayne and I have always wondered about that.
What I know comes from oral history that my grandmother shared years ago. Comments are welcome.
Thanks-
Linda
