J. Potts ancester

Did my g.g.grandfather serve in the 24th. AR. Infantry, Confederate States of America, Company A.? His name was Jerimiah Potts and he and his wife and 2 sons are on the 1860 census for Longcreek Twnshp. At that time his age was 25 yrs. so I suspect he was born abt. 1835 in MO. Family says he was ambushed near Springfield, MO. and was killed. He also had a daughter born abt. 1862. His first or middle name may have been Alvin. I saw an A.J. Potts who served with the 24th. AR. Infantry, no age, could this be my ancester? Wifes name was Mary Ann and she remarried in 1867, I believe. Childrens names were Levi, Alvin & Elizabeth. Thankyou!
