Thanks Bryan, I've often wondered. It would be interesting today, to see how long it would take to make that trip on horse back. I know that many of them probably didn't have that luxury as most good stock was being used for the war effort. I know w/in my own family connections they only had "one grey nag for the entire community to do the plowing" at some time during the civil war.
