The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Tombstones with Ar Connection

Mike, it gets even "curioser". The Littleberry McMillin who served in Co. F, 6th (aka Monroe's 1st) Arkansas Cavalry, was a 25-year-old farmer living in Hot Spring County, Arkansas, when the war started. He was born in Georgia, and married Miss Elizabeth P. A. Lee in Hot Spring County in 1857.

Is the gravestone you saw a V.A. marker? If so, and if it marks the grave of a Dr. Littleberry McMillin, then it was placed in error. Unfortunately, that happens far too often when genealogolists don't do proper research.

Let me know, so I can make an entry, one way or the other, in my Arkansas Confederate database.

Thanks.
