Very well said, Dick. That's a good response to those who are bemused by our obsession with the "trivia" that's usually posted on this board. There are books galore about the battles and leaders of the Civil War, but it's the so-called trivia that ties our ancestor privates and corporals to those big events. And Jim Martin's message boards are Trivia-Central -- and I mean that in every good meaning the word. I can read every Civil War book ever published and never run across a single mention of Pvt. John Thomas Howerton or most of the other Arkansas privates. Only in trivia-driven resources like this message board can folks find the missing pieces of the puzzle, as you so aptly put it.
