Re: for Doyle

I am a office holder in the UDC California....I find the desecration of Confederates records/burials deplorable....the war IS OVER....the mass grave at Vicksburg in the county ceme. for Confederate soldiers makes one cry....espec. seeing the white crosses all aligned at the Nat. Cem overlooking the MS River....Here in CA we th UDC honor our Confederates I am now working on a MO born soldier, a Capt who was killed at the Battle of Cornith in 1862 (no relation to me).... his family lived in Solano Co CA and when I finish the research we will have a MEMORIAL SERVICE for him...reenactors, taps, wreaths and a marker "in Memory of".... UDC cannot legally place a government headstone, unless we can prove he is buried in Solano Co and so far my instinct and research tells me he is in a common grave with other Confeds. near Cornith MS.
As for myself....my anc. uncles Confed. records from UDC
Richmnond VA, state he served as a PVT Co E Caldwells Rgm
He enlisted in Newton Co MO and died Feb 22, 1863 of pneumonia in a hospital in Little Rock AR. I too am searching for those hospital rosters...any clues to help me??
