I believe my gt. gt. grandfather was in Company E of the 38th Arkansas. This seem to be the unit of which the least is known, at least based on the transcribed information posted on the web.
After obtaining Banasik's book, I used a process of elimination to infer which companies were at Prairie Grove and which were not.
Can you give me some idea of what kind of information about the 38th is out there? I'm going to try to get copies of the Shaver and Adams' reports on the battle from the New York Historical Society--they are not in the Official Records for some reason. The National Archives has a center over in Fort Worth. Is there likely to be anything in those records that I can't find on the web?
