Hello. My ancestor, Lt. Fielding Price out of White County, Arkansas, was with the 1st Arkansas Cav. under Dobbins.
I learned that by reading his widow's pension application given in 1897 and signed by one of the men captured and imprisioned with him.
Your people may want to check the pension files.
My ancestor died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock on Feb. 1, 1865.
According to someone, probably Bryan Howerton, I was told years ago that the Yankees hated the 1st Arkansas Cav.
Dobbins fled to South America after the war and never came back. Dobbins also outlived what his family claimed he did.
Providing that this Sherman was caught and survived the prison was a blessing no matter how he got out.
Good luck-
Linda
