Don, the last known surviving muster roll of the 10th Arkansas Infantry dates from before the fall of Vicksburg, in July 1863. There are no known muster rolls from the period when the regiment was exchanged and reorganized as the 10th Arkansas Mounted Infantry. As a result, the men who enlisted after Vicksburg are known only from surrender and parole lists, hospital records, prisoner of war records, etc., and from letters and diaries.

Jeff Bratton is the owner of the diary you asked about. I don't think he has any plans to publish it; instead, he is posting it in installments on this message board. I believe he has also donated a copy at the Arkansas History Commission. The diary is worth its weight in gold, because it contains the names of men who served in Witt's regiment who are found in no other records. For many of Witt's men, this diary is the only proof of their service.
