Thanks George, Robert, and David. According to the Butler Center's finding aids, they have two manuscripts related to the 3rd; one by J.A. Fowler (which may very well be the 3rd (State Troops), not the 3rd of the ANV as David pointed out). The other is by Samuel Emerson of Co. F. I will have a look at both when I go there in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the help so far. I have to think that letters, memoirs, diaries, etc. are floating around out there. It's just a question of getting to the right folks and prevailing on their generosity.
