I would believe that you are going to have to do just like
my brother and I did and purchase whatever you need yourself.
As far as the correct ranking, at least yours got a memorial marker which was very kind.
I do understand how you feel, but that is just the way it goes.
I have several that we cannot track down. I strongly
feel that I had several kin who were thrown in the common burial pits.
I know for a fact that when my mother and I visited at Shiloh, she said, just look
how they treated our boys, never knowing that she had close kin that fell there.
As sure as I am still here, I have at least one that is marked "unknown" outside the
National Cemetery in Little Rock. Knowing that is a blessing itself as no one knew for
years what became of the man.
If the Yankees had you during the Civil War, they owned you and your future regardless
of your heritage or supposed rank in life.
I still say, "Congratualtions on a job well done."
