The wound was much more serious than most think, since he did spit blood the rest of his life, and he grew a beard to hid the rather nasty scar. We believe that we have discovered where he recovered here at Richmond, and were looking for independent confirmation, if possible. I am the Battlefield Superintendent here at the Battle of Richmond, and we are looking for the location of his personal effects, or where they got to after his death in 1864. I know a sash, sword belt, and untensil combo. are at Wilson's Creek Battlefield in Missouri, his kepi is in Nashville, and I beleive his frock coat is in Richmond, Virginia. I am looking for other items, if they exist. His pistol supposedly is in Texas, but there are holes in that story. Any other tid bits of inforamtion are greatly appreciated. In a joking manner, we have not found his teeth here at Richmond, but believe to know the field they may be in.
