Thanks for the help. I saw the list of Mays but since I don't know who the father is I can't say what the first name was. The mother and daughter are first found in Randolph Co so I was hoping to narrow it down to a few men. But I might at that is it is necessary to follow each man, some are probably related and missing in the 1870 census. I did find the daughters death certicate but it left the fathers name blank. So I will probably start tracking all those Mays men down to see who they married or if they died during the early civil war years.
