I'm working on an Order of Battle for the Union and Confederate forces for the William Sooy Smith portion of the Meridian Campaign (Expedition) in February of 1864 in Mississippi.

One of the units listed, as a part of Robert M. McCulloch's Brigade of Forrest's Cavalry is the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry, identified as a contingent or part. The commander of this unit is a Captain F. M. Cochran. Does anyone have any information about this man, prior service, bio, etc?

Any help would be appreciated.
