There was also a case at Fort Fillmore, New Mexico in which Confederate forces took control of the fort in 1861 but abandoned it shortly thereafter. Fort Fillmore was not re-occupied by the Federals -- although it remained listed as Federal outpost until it was officially abandoned in 1862.
