Re: 21st Arkansas Militia and 36th Arkansas Infant

Debbie, I have not found any service record that indicates George H. Duckworth's age, but the Confederate widow's pension application of Mrs. D. M. Duckworth leaves no doubt that he is the man who served in the 21st Arkansas Militia, and later in "Captain Blassingame's Company, Colonel Crandall's Arkansas Cavalry." No muster rolls for this latter unit are known to exist. It was officially known as the 47th Arkansas Mounted Infantry (aka 47th Arkansas Cavalry), Col. Lee Crandall commanding, and was recruited in central Arkansas, including companies from White County.

Mrs. D. M. Duckworth filed her application from White County in 1901, stating that her husband had died on April 6, 1889. Her application was approved on August 30, 1901 [Pension File No. 12897].
