I guess it is a very remote possibility my ancestor (George W. Dale ) was with the Texans, but I seriously doubt it. His brother ( Robert M. Dale), my ggrandf, was in Co. D, Harrison's 3rd. La. Cav. Our old family records say George was killed in Sept., 1864 in Monticello, Ark. There are no military records for either one of them. Apparently they were two of the many soldiers in the army under Kirby Smith that had their records destroyed. Even though my ggrandm had multiple letters from former soldiers that served with my ggrandf, it was only after she happened upon Robert's Amnesty papers and/or his Oath of Alligence that she was able to receive his pension. She received this pension from 1916 through 1936. thank you for taking the time to look into this for me......Dr. M. B. Dale
