I don't believe that at the time being in your mid 40s constituted as being decrepted. And as you say when you feel strongly about something, age sometimes doesn't come to play.

If David could leave Phila. start a family and business I'm sure that in his 40s he could fight for it, and knowing the FULTONs as I do(I am direct line) we are stubborn and tough.

Apparently your area was quite fired up about the goings on up in in the North, and after reading "Confederates in the Attic" I think they still are, and I can well understand as I had family leaning on both sides, as you know the 6th Arkansas and the 29th Pa. I lean more to the southern side of the differences, but the slavery issue was a stummbling block, which is I know not the reason for the conflict, but it was a kind of straw that broke the camels back.
