Thanks for the comments. Since there are no available records, my input is still somewhat speculation. It certainly seems plausible that they would not carry dead bodies that far. For many years I have heard that the soldiers were from the Poison Spring battle. They could still fit within this description if they had been brought to Mt. Holly as wounded, and later died there -- possibly because closer communities could not handle such a large number of wounded casualties.
This discussion now makes me wonder if some of these Confederate graves may be from illness, etc. from other activities in the area, such as Curchill's winter camp between Mt Holly and Lisbon. Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.
And all this still leaves Kari's original question open as an item of interest.
