Drew, to put it very briefly, the book follows the struggle for the Arkansas River valley. Confederate losses at Arkansas Post and Helena lead to the fall of Little Rock while Union troops out of Kansas gain control of the western end of the line. Federal control is punctuated by the victory at Pine Bluff. The book, of course, will be much more detailed!
