The "10th Arkansas" you asked about was the 10th Regiment Arkansas Militia, the militia regiment of Johnson County. It conducted its annual muster for inspection and drill in late February 1862 at Clarksville. Jesse A. Boen was present for the muster as a private in Company H.

Many of the militia men subsequently entered Confederate service in Co. H, 26th Arkansas Infantry (composed primarily of Johnson County men). Jesse A. Boen enlisted in Company H at Clarksville, Arkansas, on June 13, 1862. He was mustered into Confederate service with his company at Fort Hindman, DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, on July 1, 1862, for three years or the war. He was sent to the hospital at Camp Hope, Austin, Arkansas, on August 12, 1862, where he subsequently died of disease on August 26, 1862.

Jesse A. Boen is listed in the 1850 census of Johnson County (age 11, born in Tennessee) in the household of William and Narcissa Boen.
