The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Jesse Boen, Co. H-10th Ark CSA

Hello Bob,

Thanks for your message, I wish I had asked for help earlier as it took me quite some time to find Jesse Boen listed as Jesse Brown on the 1860 census!

Do you have any further information re: the Jesse A. Boen who married Polly Cooper? I have quite a few records from applications and affidavits and such for Choctaw enrollment, but absolutely nothing about what happened to Jesse A. Boen after 1860. He was not living with wife Polly Cooper Boen after 1860 (at least, not that I can find) but I cannot find any record of Civil War service. He simply disappears. Polly states that she is the widow of J.A. Boen (later indentified in an affidavit as "Jesse Anderson Boen", but does not state where or when he died. Do you have any ideas regarding which Arkansas Boens might be his brothers? If so, I can check for pension applications (if they exist) which might mention of Jesse or Polly.

Many thanks, everyone, for your help!
Cynthia
