Many years ago while researching my g-g grandfather on this site I was told by Doyle Taylor that his unit (24th Ark.) was at St. Charles at the time of the fall of Arkansas Post "Guarding the heavy guns that were loaded on flatcars to be transported to Little Rock". Would that have been part of this rr line that you mention as used to transport the sick from Ft. Hindman?
