hmmm interesting. i remember that doyle had said that the 24th ark. was detailed to st. charles to guard the heavy guns and when ark. post fell that the yankees found the" guns loaded on flatcars" but that the confederates had "skedaddled". i just assumed that there was a railway there in st. charles. maybe he'll respond to this thread and solve the mystery....
