First Sergeant Eli Winslow, Co. M, 45th Arkansas Mounted Infantry (aka 45th Arkansas Cavalry), enlisted in the summer of 1864 at Jacksonport, Arkansas. There are no known surviving muster rolls which would specify the date. He was not captured. He, with the other survivors of his regiment, were surrendered and paroled at Jacksonport on June 5, 1865. After signing their parole, the men were permitted to return to their homes, not to be disturbed by Federal authorities so long as they observed the conditions of their parole of honor. The parole list describes him as age 42, born in Mississippi, eyes blue, hair light, complexion fair, height 6'0".
