Hey Ken,,,As you suggest perhaps a transcription error.I only know of the operating RR between LR and Dezark.

I wish you had the Brush Men book to refer to..The authors have included a map done by Donald Frazier showing Captain Hart's movements. I will briefly describe;

Hart leaves Hunt Co.,Tx. about Aug.26,62 for Ft.Smith to receive commission and raise a Confederate company.

Hart shows Confederate officials his commission as a Confederate Captain at Callahan Springs(NW Ark.)Sept.13. He uses that obviously to get thru the lines.

Hart receives commission as a Captain in the Union Army at Springfield,Mo.Sept.16 and ordered to return to Texas and recruit more men.

Hart ordered to burn Mudtown(NW Ark.)by General F.T.Heron,Dec.18.Some federal mail carriers had been fired on there.

After dispatching men to Texas to recruit in early Jan.63.,Hart and the remainder of his command find refuge in the heavily Unionist area a few miles south of Dardanelle.

Hart terrorizes Charleston,Ark.area and vicinity Jan.13-18.

Hart attacks Speight's troops Jan.13.Frazier gives the location about midway betwen Ft.Smith and Charleston.

Then his capture on the 19th.That old Mill and Blacksmith Shop may be just inside the Indian Territory on the Poteau.Looks like at most 5 miles SW of Ft Smith.

Is interesting there was some significant dissent in NE Texas where Hart came from.The authors opinion is that Hart was at odds with all wealthy slaveowners.In particular Holland Coffee and Silas Colville.In an 1841 business dispute Hart's father was shot to death by Silas Colville,as you know Coffee's partner.Colville himself was killed in 1844 on the road between Preston Bend and Warren.Tho evidence pointed to renegade indians many in the county felt that the Hart brothers had got their final revenge.
