My gr, gr grandfather James Caudle was killed in 1867 or 1868 just out side of Little Rock, AR or at least that's what I've always been told. I heard he was ambushed and killed for being a sympathizer in the Civil War in Arkansas but I don't know if he was Confederate or Union. I am not sure where to begin looking for proof of this so if anyone has any information that might help I would really appreciate it. I believe he was a postal carrier and had lived in Sevier County, AR.
His wife and 4 children walked all the way to Texas after his death and settled in Ellis County, TX.
