My Grand Fathers great great grand father was in the Civil War he was from Hot Springs Arkansas. I am trying to find out what rank and regiment he was with. I was doing some research on him and another ancestor of mine who I posted in the North Carolina forum. But I do have a photo of Abner L Gaines, not the other one. My grandparents had happened to show me this past weekend these orders he have received to go into town with passing and to re pass out of town to show to guards with out any interruptions and I have both photos the orders and of him. All original to it was so exciting to see. But I am trying to find out the rank and regiment he was with also have you ever heard of Brigadier General Hagar, he was the one who had written it for him?
