I'm trying to find Abraham Bresler's 1860 Census and it brings me back to this research. I still can't find it but I'm still looking. I think he is in Arkansas.

Some more pieces to the puzzle.

Per his pension application..... "Apr 1861 in Arkansas State Troops"..... Per Confederate Veterans VXII 1909 "My company commanded by Herman Carolton."

Company B Jefferson Guards formed in Apr 1861 in Pine Bluff. Commanded by Capt. Charles H Carlton. Charles had a older brother Herman but can't place him in any unit yet. I read a place where Herman was a staff officer and a Major.

Per his pension application.... "Transferred to Confederate Troops Jul 1861"

Company B Jefferson Guards was part of the 1st Arkansas State Troops regiment commanded by Col. Patrick Ronayne Cleburne and in Jul 1861 became a regiment of the Confederate Army and became the 1st Arkansas Infantry. In Dec 1861 changed to 15th Arkansas because their were two 1st Arkansas units.

Per Confederate Veterans VXII 1909, "We were stationed 20 miles north of Memphis"

In the book Meteor Shining Brightly: Essays on the life and career of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Page 36 "The newly formed regiment....recieved orders to Fort Randolph on the east bank in Tennessee, 20 miles north of Memphis."

Per Confederate Veterans VXII 1909 "He remembers the names of 3, John Bloom, Reinart and Bernhard. He thinks they are all from Pine Bluff."

John Bloom is on the 1860 Census for Pine Bluff but not on any roster. His son Simon Bloom in listed on the roster of the 15th Arkansas and survived the war.

Per his Pension Application....." John B Triggs Battery" Another mystery on this unit and his connection.

In the book Meteor Shining Brightly: Essays on the life and career of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Page 36, "He was joined by a artillery company, the Helena Light Artillery, who would form a strong bond with these infantrymen over the next 4 years"

Per his pension application.... "Was in no Battle" "Took Flux about Aug 1 1861"

In the book Meteor Shining Brightly: Essays on the life and career of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Page 37, Cleburne was in Greenville, MO abt 1 Aug 1861.

And that is about all I can put together unless we find information out on Herman Carlton, Charles's brother and if he commanded another unit about Apr 1861.

Per his pension application...." discharged from service Aug 25 1861."

Abraham is in Little Rock Arkansas Jan 1862 working in a soap and candle factory until the end of the war.
