I know this wasn't the point of the posting but I'm wondering what is meant by "ran the only flour mill west of the Mississippi for the Confederate army". There were, of course, many mills in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, and a few in the Indian Territory that produced flour and corn meal etc. for the Confederate soldiers (or which every army was in control of the area.)
