Scott, few hospital records survived the war. For those that did, the hospital register entries were entered into the soldier's Compiled Service Record. Many, if not most, of the Richmond (Virginia) hospitals and the Shreveport (Louisiana) general hospital come to mind. Also, there are some hospital records which were made public long after the war -- the Port Hudson (Louisiana) post hospital, the Selma (Alabama) general hospital, etc. -- too late to be entered into the Compiled Service Records.
