Re: 19th Arkansas Parolees /8th Arkansas Consolida

Looking at the official records, according to a table of organization dated November 20, 1863, the consolidation had not taken place at this point. The November 12 date is the date the consolidated 19th and 24th Arkansas were transfered from Smith's Brigade to Liddell's. The first reference to the 8th and 19th being consolidated is in Govan's report concerning the rear guard action at Ringgold Gap which took place on November 27, 1863. Also Colonel Baucum was not present during Chattanooga-Ringgold Gap. Lt. Colonel Hutchison of the 19th was commanding. Hutchison is also listed as the commander of the 8/19th on the table of organization dated December 10, 1863. Baucum had returned by January 2, 1863 when he added his signature to Cleburne's proposal to enlist slaves.
