LTC Archibald K. Patton commanded at Shiloh, not sure if he was killed or what. Polk was promoted to COL on Apr 12, 1862 by his CSR. The Major of the 15th as well as the Sr CPT were both killed at Shiloh. Josey was just a LT at that time. So it looks like Polk jumped from LT to COL on Apr 12, and Josey became MAJ on Apr 14th. Of course Polk soon became a BG and Josey took the reins of the 15th
