The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 1st Arkansas casualties at Shiloh

There's no record of James H. Henry in Co. F, 1st Arkansas Infantry. The company's muster rolls are remarkably comprehensive for the first three years of the war. There is a single record of a J. H. Henry, Co. F, 1st Arkansas Infantry, on a "Miscellaneous" microfilm, which states that he died at U.S. Army General Hospital, Camp Dennison, Ohio, April 23, 1862, of a gunshot wound sustained at the battle of Shiloh. Again, however, this man does not appear on the rolls of the 1st Arkansas Infantry.
