Thank you sir, that helps link up the organization of the regiment with some of the volunteer militia companies. I am tracking that the following unit were orgionally organized as volunteer companies in the state militia before being organized with the 8th Arkansas Infantry.

Company F, - "West Point Rangers" also known as "West Point Rifles" Origionaly commanded by Captain Joseph F. Hathaway, Later Captain A. T. Jones, organized May 29, 1861 in the 65th Militia Regiment of White County.

Company E, - "Independence Guards" commanded by Captain Justus F. Tracy orgionally organized February 15, 1861 in the 59th Militia Regiment of Independence County

Company D, - "Volunteer Infantry Company" Captain Thomas J. Morgan orgionally organized June 8, 1861 in the 59th Militia Regiment of Independence County

The organization dates I have are the dates that the officers were issued their militia commissions. Based on most of the data that I have, the elections usually occured two - three weeks before the commissioned were issued by the Governor.
