The reason why I am trying to make some sense of all of this is that in middle of January or February of 1865. he was named or recongized as one of the Johnson County atrocities victim when a band of Federals came to her home demanding money from her while these men tortured her and her sister-in-law in a bed of hot coals. I am trying to put a proper assessment as to why he was at home of which I have researched that he was born and raised in Spadra, Arkansas. His were parents William C. & Melinda J. (Seabolt) Hudson. Anyway, I am trying to figure out or understand why he was helping the Federals of the 14th Kansas Cavalry and a few others. In an article I have read, Mrs. Howell recognized one of her assailant as this Andrew Hudson a citizen of Johnson County. So I want to believe that Hudson was helping because he "took oath" with the Union Army and had felt obligated to help them.
Thank for your time,
