Shoup for 8 months 23 days, appointed 2nd Lieutenant July 18, 1861, recorded on the Jan. & Feb., 1862 muster roll as absent, on special duty as AAQM, transferred May 12, 1862, tenders resignation July 16, 1862 as Sr. 1st Lieut. of Aucton's Battery to join his brother Maj. F. A. Shoup, assigned as ADC to BGen Shoup February 1, 1863, receipted for an issue of clothing March 24, 1864, listed as Captain, swore to Parole of Honor May 10, 1865 at Meridian, Miss.
