I am pretty sure McMurtrey was a part of Slemons 2nd Ark early in the war. I ran across this information on a CSR for a soldier and it stated that the "3rd TM Cav was reduced to a BN and redesignated the 18th (McMurtrey's) Ark Cav Bn. I will try to find it again and get the citation info for you.
