Killed by accident of the bursting of a Bum/Burn [sic] May 13, 1864 at Fayetville, Ark.

He had the month before been permanently attached to a section of Howitzers. His widow, Louisa Mason, now Fairchild, formerly widow of Henry H. Mason, Corporal, Co. G, 1st Ark. Cav. Vols., was granted a pension of $8 a months commencing 13 May 1864 and an additional sum of $2 a month for each of the following children, until arriving at the age of 16 years, commencing 25 July, 1866.

Pension ending 18 Oct. 1867, date of Widow's remarriage. Certificate dated 24 Feby. 1876
