From the following, it appears that it was Captain Wimpey, Company F, who commanded the section of Howitzers.

. . . . On the 9th of August [1863] Captain R. H. Wimpy, with
two mountain howitzers and a detachment of the regiment,
joined Colonel Catherwood, 6th cavalry, Missouri State
militia, in a raid. southwest across the Arkansas River,
participating in the engagements at Pineville, Missouri,
Backbone Mountain, Arkansas, and in several skirmishes,
marching over 500 miles. . .

Richard H. Wimpey, age 35, Private, enrolled June 15, 1862 in Benton County, Arkansas for 3 years, appointed Captain, Company F, August 11, 1862, recorded on the July/August, 1863 muster roll as absent, on detached service under Col. Catherwood, absent as member State Legislature April/May, 1864, promoted Major May 1, 1865 replacing John Worthington, killed, mustered out at Fayetteville, Ark. August 23, 1865
