Okay here is my best speculation based off your info and what I can find.

He enlisted in 1862 when Missourian Brig Gen JAmes McBride was in Izard county raising troops for new units. He was called away and they were sent to Little Rock where they were organized into new regiments. This is the connection where he mentions McBride although he did not serve under him. His regiment became 27th Ark Inf and he was in Company G. His regiment was placed in brigade with other regiments and as part of Tappan's brigade of Churchill's Div fought at battle of Mansfield LA in 1864, this would be where he was wounded. His military records do not mention the wounding etc in April since the last record was in Feb 1864. However, he does have a parole from US forces in 1865 which lists him as 2LT in Company D 27th Ark Infantry with residence at Batesville, AR (probably closest town) done after the surrender. He was still in Louisiana on the Texas border where most of the CS army was located.
